Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat (BISE Kohat) come into existence as an independent governmental educational body of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier in 2002. Before the establishment of this board all the educational affairs of the regions were handled by Peshawar board. This board came into existence as a result of the separation of the Peshawar board. Since then, it is accountable to hold and manage all the educational matters of the region. This educational body is also responsible for handling the administrative, managerial and educational affairs of the jurisdiction areas.
The main objective behind the establishment of this board is to organize the matriculation and intermediate level exams in transparent environment for the regular and private students and also the declaration of fair results of these exams. The board is responsible for organizing the exams of the students living in Kohat and also in the neighboring areas. It is also important to mention here that BISE Kohat organizes the exams of regular students studying in the schools and colleges of Kohat and jurisdiction areas as well as accountable to organize the exams of private students.
Every year thousands of aspirants get registered under this board to appear in the exams. The board organizes SSC level exams in March while HSSC level exams in May.
